“Appreciation of Life for Terry Neu, Feb 8, 2020”

5/6/2020

These are the notes for a eulogy he was writing -

Izzy’s waiting at the rainbow bridge
Horses, dogs, and children can read our emotions
All y'all know that, and why

When children are born, they’re born a certain way
And from that time on, always a good story to tell
That last learned act of a whole man

“Brotherly Love” and black powder
He didn’t say anything about it - he knew better
Black Sabbath
Torture us with it in youth
My brother knew I had a nice voice and liked to hear me sing

A glacier
He lived, a giant mile-wide going with the wind
Drove, built things
Any kind of shame, never
Seen him scared, never
And it was worth 30 years of waiting

Beers at night
Church in morning
Native American, almost Pentocostal
Spiritual side
I'll never hunt the same way again

Relenting passion
It was the sweetest of times
Sitting up here and telling you about Terry is Terry’s job
We’d order breakfast and he’d order two

As much as his facial hair, style and shape
His lessons varied
If you want to do any tai-chi, you can
Go study up on it
A rescuing

Know, you don’t cuss Texas
There are other leagues, bull fighting league too
Terry was a cowboy fan of the Cowboys born in the 60’s

And if my dad was able to do what he just did just then,
Then I’d like to try out something Neu if I could
Heart-sick from it,
Know he was grateful for those he had yet to meet

Thank you for letting  me speak - I gotta go help my grandma now
Many new adventures to all y'all plural
Only those that are off the planet know
Who've come together in the time of that soul’s passing

Shake to look

handshakes were side
to side
i don’t if i’m right
but i know i’m what’s left

sunrise, then ether

4/14/2020

from the dew
drop rise warming
into the grassline
& it's real glimmer, refraction
across comes of the rise

tell, tale

4/8/2020

tell me a story of the last time
i forgot you
and i’ll tell you a tale of
the last time i lied

Power lines

3/31/2020

Charisma of courage
To flow and funk
Through the story of
History that he and she
Transform to we
Humming, strumming, strutting like Ali
Offering the knock-out musically
Thinking through the truth to que the questions
That spark the match
That ignites passionate persuasion
Here are from
We flatline stone walls into dust
We rise from the education of the heart
Let’s discuss
This together
